And, much like Tyler, I’m going to try to contextualize and define this sexy, shocking divertimento that I had purchased months ago but never reviewed. Oh, I had tried … but I wasn’t ready back then. Sometimes art has to marinate inside oneself before one can cook with it.

Look at all the attention this one has gotten; all the comments. It’s worth asking why. It’s not because Tara is “mean” in it — note that the “DOMINATION” tag isn’t included. Rather, she is chilling, almost alien, insectile, compared to her usual work.

Tara certainly has been “mean” in other videos. In one of my all-time faves, “Dirty Boys Get Dirty Punishment”, Tara is deliciously cruel — a pure narcissist turned on by her own beauty, and turned on even more that we’re helpless to do anything about it as she teases us with firm relentlessness. There are other videos where she’s downright psycho: blowing us away with pistols, making us drink poison, etc. … but those are specific role-plays, and we know what we’re getting into before going in.

First, the cramped space of this small bathroom was a truly inspired set — it creates claustrophobia, no escape. As others here have noted, Tara looks differently, too — she’s wearing more eye make-up than is her wont. It makes her eyes darker, her face more predatory.

And the performance! — equal parts erotic and mechanical. In Cronenberg’s “The Fly,” Jeff Goldblum says, “There are no insect politicians.” To be politic is to try to persuade, and in erotic videos, that means: seduce. Not here. She opens the door, and immediately comes after us. Even the incredibly sexy business with her mouth (throughout, she’s flicking her tongue out), and particularly with her mouth and thumb, bring to mind devouring. Without even giving us a virtual blow-job, she’s metaphorically devouring us. A mantis eating her prey. Eating her young — the fact that it’s also taboo ratchets up the dark intensity.
