What can one say about this clip? Is there anything like it in erotica? Tara’s work is already unique in that her beauty and talent has allowed her to carve out an independent niche as a solo POV artist to an incredible degree of success unmatched by others (though I hope they succeed, too — the more independence and striving for better quality, the better, I say). But there’s just nothing like this out there.

It’s a new look from Tara: hysterical despair. And, somehow, all mixed up with sex. It’s social commentary. It’s a portrait of a madwoman, a victim, a victimizer. It’s like nothing I’ve ever seen, *even* from her.

I tell you this, it was probably more than the submitter of the fantasy bargained for.

I was dreading this one just a little because I don’t like seeing Tara being unhappy, in distress, or victimized — brings out my papa-bear instincts, I guess. Well, that’s also a juvenile instinct: just trust Tara. And, in truth, Tara’s very best performances seem to come from places where she’s in trouble in some way. Just one of those little old dichotomies, I suppose: the strongest, most independent woman in erotica completely *grips* us when she’s weak like this. It’s a measure of her talent as an actor that she can play a role so far outside herself, outside her own (I’m guessing) instincts as a performer and even as a person.

Not too long ago I watched a “straight” film called “The Deep Blue Sea” in which Rachel Weisz, who normally portrays strong, independent women, was this time a woman deep in the grips of romantic and erotic despair (I guess David Hiddleston will do that to the poor ladies out there). While it was not characteristic of her usual work, she was *terrific* in it; won NY Film Critics Circle Award, I think. While Weisz wasn’t frantic as Tara is here, Tara’s work in this one brought that film, and that indelible performance, to mind. After all, when one sees greatness, one can’t help comparing that greatness to other great things one may have seen. It’s the yardstick of criticism, either professionally or just for one’s own satisfaction.

Oh Tara. You never stop surprising me. 10/10, and I love you. :)
