The Erotic Service Providers Union (www.ESPU-ca.org), in conjunction with The Harvey Milk Democratic Club, proudly announces its entertainment line-up for the first in a series of ‘San Francisco Courtesan Carnaval' charity events and parties that will support labor rights and education funding for erotic service providers.  

The Porn Star Karaoke Rock and Roll Show and Auction at Annie's Social Club, on April 29, 2007, from 6:00 p.m. to 10 p.m., will feature a diverse musical line-up including alt/punk rock outfit The Girlfriend Experience, dark wave/pop/rocker Bettie Black, and cutting edge Latin-infused Cumbia and African rhythms from Quinoa Groove.   For those intrigued and enraptured by stunning feminine beauty, there will be a bevy of sexy, scintillating and sensual burlesque performances from The Indra, Lady Monster, and - considered to be the world's premiere samba dancers, Kellita of Hot Pink Feathers.   Fudgie Frottage, “The Man with The Biggest Balls in Show Business,” will preside as the evenings maestro impresario.

Audience members are also encouraged to enter and perform in the Porno Karaoke Contest, where contestants have to moan, groan, gasp, grunt, verbalize and vocalize along with award-winning porn movie clips.   Those best at faking it between the sheets can now bedazzle a live audience with their fabulous faking skills for a chance to win fantastic prizes.   In addition, a live and silent charity auction will include gift baskets of leading high-quality marital aids from the best purveyors of adult novelty items in the world, as well as a one-of-a-kind hand-made sterling silver and antique stone necklace, bracelet and earring jewelry set, valued at over $1,000.00, from www.RobinAlbachten.com.

Funds acquired during this event will provide tuition so erotic service providers can attend Summer Institute for Union Women training that will educate them about their occupational, health, safety, social, civil and economic rights.   In addition, erotic service providers will learn how to negotiate for improved wages and work conditions, organizing and how to stay organized, as well as how to wield the power of collective bargaining.

The Erotic Service Providers Union seeks to gain agency on behalf of all erotic service providers regarding their occupational, health, safety, social, civil, and economic rights through affiliating with organized labor.   An Erotic Service Provider is anyone who is compensated for his or her erotic services or compensated for their support of someone else's erotic service.

I hope this event raises a lot of funds and allows women working in this field of expertise the ability to make more informed choices as well as learn to advocate for their financial and physical well being. I think girls are making porn now because they love to, not because they have to, in many cases. Any positive exposure they can get is fabulous. And if we can learn from the mistakes of those who've paved the way and pick up a couple new... talents along the way, why not?
