If we are so evolved, enlightened, and free, then why do these laws still exist?? They're hilarious but not a laughing matter.
Alabama
Oral or anal sex with someone other than one's
spouse is illegal and punishable by a one-year jail
term.
Alaska
Cohabitation is considered a punishable offense.
Arizona
"Infamous crime against nature" is punishable by 30
days in jail and/or $50. Cohabitation is punishable
by 30 days in jail, and/or a $500 fine.
Arkansas
Oral and anal sex with someone of the same sex is
punishable by one year and/or $1000.
Florida
An "unnatural and lascivious act" is punishable by
60 days in jail and/or $500. Cohabitation is
considered a punishable offense and can be punished
by 60 days in a jail and/or a $500 fine.
Georgia
Oral or anal sex are punishable by 20 years in jail.
Fornication is illegal and is punishable by one year
in jail and/or a $1000 fine.
Illinois
Fornication/cohabitation are punishable by 6 months
in jail and/or a $300 fine.
Idaho
An "Infamous crime against nature" is punishable
life in prison. Fornication/cohabitation are
punishable by 6 months in jail and/or a $500 fine.
Kansas
Oral and anal sex with someone of the same sex is
punishable by one year in prison and/or $1000.
Louisiana
"Unnatural carnal copulation" is punishable by five
years in prison and/or $2000.
Maryland
Oral and anal sex with someone of the same sex is
punishable by 10 years in prison and/or $1000.
Massachusetts
"Sodomy" and "buggery" are punishable offenses.
Cohabitation is punishable by 90 days in a jail
and/or a $300 fine.
Michigan
"Abominable and detestable crimes against nature"
are punishable by 15 years in prison or $2500.
Cohabitation is punishable by one year in a jail
and/or a $500 fine.
Minnesota
Oral and anal sex with someone of the same sex is
punishable by one year in prison and/or $3000.
Missouri
Oral and anal sex with someone of the same sex is
punishable by one year and $1000.
New Mexico
Cohabitation is punishable crime.
North Carolina
"Crimes against nature" are punishable by 10 years
in prison. Fornication/cohabitation are both
punishable by 6 months in jail and/or a $500 fine.
Oklahoma
"Abominable and detestable crimes against nature"
with anyone of the same sex are punishable by 10
years in prison.
Rhode Island
An "abominable and detestable crimes against nature"
is punishable by 20 years in prison (7 minimum).
Fornication is punishable by a $10 fine.
South Carolina
An "abominable crime of buggery" is punishable by 5
years in prison and/or $500. Fornication/
cohabitation are punishable by one year in jail
and/or a $500 fine.
Utah
Oral or anal sex with anyone other than one's spouse
is punishable by six months in jail or $299.
Fornication is punishable by 6 months in jail and/or
a $299 fine.
Vermont
Fornication is a punishable offense.
Virginia
Oral or anal sex are punishable by 20 years in
prison. Fornication is punishable by a $100 fine.
Washington, DC
Fornication is considered illegal and is punishable
by six months in jail and/or a $300 fine.
West Virginia
Fornication/cohabitation are both punishable by a
$20 minimum fine and 6 months in jail.
Wisconsin
Fornication is punishable.
