Being the girlie geek that I am and extraordinary at putting valuable time towards the oddest projects, I've just created my own personal blog icons. No, not advertisements for my own site or blogs but for my philosophies, my ways of thinking, and the ideas that mean a great deal to me. Thus, Blog Naked and Blog Truth have been born!
In the process of tossing TaraTainton.com out to the online world to enable me to connect with other bloggers, writers, creatives, and intellectuals, I've submitted my blogs to a gazillion of the blog directories and listings you've seen stamped on just about every blog you've ever visited. Yeah, the icons are like branding your site with every trashy or tacky tattoo you've ever seen on a human, but it's a requirement in order to be listed with most of the major sites. Still, they're the mark of a blog that someone takes seriously, even if that is only the blogger him/herself who wants their individual voice to be heard by more than just a few. Spotting a few original attempts at taking the standard blog directory branding format and coming up with an original idea or just poking fun inspired my own creativity. First, what better way to label the blog of a writer of erotica than with "Blog Naked." Now, you're welcome to picture an image of your WebMistress or WebMaster toiling away at the keyboard in their birthday suit...whatever helps you to pay closer attention to the words being typed. Yet, I always prefer to take things a step further. For me, Blog Naked represents blogging bare, blogging free of any of that bad stuff that would prevent you from baring all in your blog.
Blog Naked: to blog free of societal or cultural constraints, free of inhibition, free of hatred, free of your own fears or consideration of judgment from others, free of hang-ups or baggage, free of anything that holds you back from being your real self and proudly sharing it with the world. And what I really like to encourage in fellow writers and everyone I come across in any field, is to be honest above all else. That means true to yourself and what you believe in, what's wrong and right for you. More than just telling the real story, take it upon yourself to discover just what that truth really is. Thus, Blog Truth exists to mark your blog as one that doesn't hold back, the mind of a blogger that tells it like it is for the benefit of all of us.
Blog Truth: to blog the truth as it exists for you, regardless of how it may be received by others, to aid the expansion of knowledge worldwide, to enlighten and challenge others through opening their eyes to unique perspectives by representing your gender, race, culture, profession, skill set, etc. with unabashed honesty. I'd love for you to add these icons to your own websites and blogs if they hold meaning for you as well. Use them to add color, a message different from the usual, and make it known to your visitors and readers what your blogging style is. Even better, link the icon back to my site, any page you wish, so that others can see what the original intention of the icon is and choose to add one to their own site or say "hello" to your WebMistress. After all, isn't that why we're all out here on the web? We love connecting to other people. If you've got cool ideas for your own individual blog icons, I'd love to hear about them. I might want to post yours on my own site, or maybe you can convince me to draw up one for you.
